Discovering beauty in the overlooked. Lori Harrison’s studio creates imagery by mindfully experiencing the world and re-imagining the overlooked.“If we shift our perspective, something inconspicuous can emerge with a powerful narrative, texture and tone — with great beauty.”Integrating that aesthetic with design is the source of the studio’s home décor and accessories: one-of-kind patterns applied to quality materials using superior craftsmanship.
Every day I try and practice the art of looking. If we train our eyes and are present in our environment - really seeing the world around us - we can find great beauty in things often overlooked. Like this weathered graffiti pattern along a narrow Paris street. It was not only the form but the weathered patina that caught my eye. It provides texture and interest in an urban environment much like the trees and plants provide texture in nature.
"The wall of a seaside home is returning to its elements. Peeling stucco and a scatter of lights and darks. The manufactured wall, relaxing into the sun, sand and salt, rediscovers randomness."
